What you can do now that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is the HealthSelect plan administrator

On September 1, 2017, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) became the new HealthSelect medical plan administrator. BCBSTX will manage the provider network, process claims and provide customer service. The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) sets the benefits and pays the claims.

Get personalized claims information
Register for Blue Access for Members℠, a secure portal where you can:
- Order a replacement ID card or print a temporary card
- Check claims status
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
- Confirm employee and dependent coverage
- Find a network doctor or hospital and get driving directions using Provider Finder®
- Use the Provider Finder tool to research and estimate costs for common health care services and treatments

. At the top right of the homepage, click the Log In button. Follow the directions in the drop-down menu to register for a Blue Access for Members account. You should have your medical ID card handy when you register so that you can enter the correct information about your plan. Once you have registered, you will be able to log in from your phone, computer or tablet at any time.
Start using your new ID cards
Be sure to update your wallet with your new medical and prescription drug ID cards. These cards can be especially helpful because they have the subscriber ID and group numbers listed, along with plan administrator contact information and the website address.
Transition of Care
If you are currently receiving treatment from a doctor who will not be in the BCBSTX HealthSelect network after September 1, 2017, you may be able to continue treatment with that doctor temporarily. This is called transition of care. To continue with your care, certain eligibility guidelines need to be met. You will need to submit a Transition of Care form BCBSTX by mail or fax. You can download a form by clicking on Publications and Forms at www.healthselectoftexas.com
If you are approved for transition of care, in-network benefits may be available for up to 90 days after September 1, 2017. After that, your benefits will be determined by BCBSTX.
Medical conditions that may be eligible for transition of care benefits include:
To get information about claims filed before September 1, 2017
- Pregnancy in the second and third trimester
- Long-term treatment of cancer, heart disease or transplants
- Terminal illness if life expectancy is less than six months
