OneTouch glucometer and OneTouch test strips at no cost

Plan Year 2021 diabetic supply coverage change for HealthSelectSM Prescription Drug Program participants

Starting September 1, if you’re in HealthSelect of Texas® or HealthSelect Out-of-StateSM, you will pay nothing for diabetic supplies such as certain brands of test strips, and lancets and lancing devices under the HealthSelectSM Prescription Drug Program (PDP), administered by OptumRx, when you use an in-network pharmacy and present your prescription drug ID card.

If you’re in Consumer Directed HealthSelect, lancets, lancing devices, syringes, pen needles and OneTouch test strips are available at no cost after you meet your annual deductible.

Free Glucose Meter Program

The Free Glucose Meter Program lets HealthSelect of Texas and HealthSelect Out-of-State participants get a certain OneTouch Verio glucometer at no cost when you order it through LifeScan (the manufacturer of OneTouch products). After speaking with your doctor about which glucometer is best for you, contact the LifeScan Service Center at (866) 355-9962 or visit the website at www.onetouch.orderpoints.com and enter the Brochure Code: 594PRX100. LifeScan will deliver your free glucometer to your address.

To get the OneTouch glucometer at no cost, you must order through LifeScan. If you prefer to get your glucometer at a retail pharmacy, you will need a valid prescription from your doctor, and you will be responsible for the applicable copay/coinsurance.

Items covered at an in-network pharmacy with a copay/coinsurance

The HealthSelect Prescription Drug Program benefit may cover other diabetic supplies at an in-network pharmacy with a copay or coinsurance. After meeting your annual deductible, you will pay the applicable copay/coinsurance depending on the tier status of the item you are purchasing. Call OptumRx Customer Care at (855) 828-9834 (TTY: 711) or visit www.healthselectrx.com to find out more about the cost of your particular item.

  • insulin,

Coverage of diabetic supplies and equipment under the HealthSelect medical plans administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) remains unchanged, so you can continue to receive covered diabetic supplies and equipment through your medical benefits if you prefer. But now you have the additional option of receiving certain diabetic supplies and equipment at an in-network pharmacy through your pharmacy benefits.
