Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks

State of Texas Vision LogoOn March 1, the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) Board of Trustees awarded the third-party administrator contract for State of Texas Vision to EyeMed Vision Care, LLC. The six-year contract term will begin Sept. 1, 2023.

Superior Vision Services, Inc. will continue to administer the plan through Aug. 31, 2023.

What does it mean for participants?

While vision benefits will not change as a result of this transition, EyeMed offers additional tools and savings that may be of great interest to you. More information on this to come.

Employees, retirees and their eligible dependents enrolled in State of Texas Vision do not need to re-enroll because of this transition. Their coverage will transfer to EyeMed automatically on Sept.1, unless they choose to drop coverage. (Employees can drop coverage only during Summer Enrollment or with a qualifying life event. Retirees can drop coverage any time.)

Through Aug. 31, 2023, continue to use your current ID card and call Superior Vision toll-free at (877) 396-4128 (TTY: 711) for any help you might need with coverage and claims.

Where to find more information?

Over the next few months and during Summer Enrollment, ERS, EyeMed and Superior Vision will share detailed information about the change. You will also have opportunities to meet EyeMed representatives at Summer Enrollment fairs and webinars.

In addition, your monthly employee newsletter, News About Your Benefits, will provide updates as they become available.
