Summer Enrollment benefits fairs and webinars will be here soon
The Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) benefits enrollment period for active employees and retirees not eligible for Medicare is almost here.
Make benefits changes during your phase
You may make changes to your health, dental, vision, optional life, Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) and disability insurance and TexFlexSM flexible spending accounts during your Summer Enrollment phase. Find out your agency’s or higher education institution’s enrollment phase.
Any changes you make to your or your dependents’ coverage will go into effect Sept. 1, 2022. If you don’t want to make changes to your benefits, you do not need to do anything; your current coverage will stay the same.
Watch for your Summer Enrollment packet in the mail
You should get your Summer Enrollment packet in the mail about a week before your enrollment phase. The packet includes an enrollment guide and your Personal Benefits Enrollment Statement, which shows your Plan Year 2023 coverage and premium rates.
You can find more information on the ERS Summer Enrollment page.
What’s new in Plan Year 2023?
Benefits and premiums in most plans are staying the same. There are a few changes.
- Only a few plans will have premium increases: the State of Texas Dental Choice PlanSM, and optional and dependent life insurance.
- TexFlex health care and limited-purpose flexible spending account (FSA) contribution and carryover limits will increase.
- The health plans’ total annual in-network out-of-pocket maximums (medical and pharmacy combined) will increase, to align with IRS directives.
You’ll find more information in your Summer Enrollment packet. Please read your Summer Enrollment materials, even if you’re not planning to make any changes. It’s always a good idea to make sure you’re current on what your benefit plans offer.
Summer Enrollment in-person fairs and benefits webinars
For the first time since 2019, ERS and plan administrators will host Summer Enrollment fairs around the state to help you make informed decisions about your benefits. You may attend any of the fairs — not just those at your agency or higher education institution. We look forward to connecting with members in person again!
If you prefer not to attend an in-person event, ERS and GBP plan administrators will also host several benefits webinars you can watch from the convenience of your computer or other device. During each webinar, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about the benefits program directly to ERS and plan representatives.
The schedule of enrollment fairs and benefits webinars will be in your Summer Enrollment guide. In addition, ERS will post the schedules on the Summer Enrollment webpage and have details of each fair and webinar on our online events calendar. We encourage you to check the ERS Summer Enrollment webpage and the calendar regularly.
