This retirement information is based on current ERS laws and rules and applies to State of Texas judicial officers elected or appointed before Sept. 1, 2024.

There are four ways State of Texas judicial officers elected or appointed before Sept. 1, 2024 can become eligible for a retirement annuity and retiree health insurance.

Please note that health and other insurance benefits are subject to change based on available state funding. The Texas Legislature determines the level of funding for such benefits and has no continuing obligation to provide those benefits beyond each fiscal year.
