TexFlexSM Flexible Spending Accounts for Former Employees
Your TexFlex health care or limited-purpose account will be closed on your last day of employment and you will only be able to submit claims for expenses you incurred before your employment ended. Any eligible health expenses you incur after termination are not reimbursed unless you choose to continue participation through COBRA.
If you have a TexFlex debit card, the card will be deactivated on the last day of the month in which your employment ends. You can file claims by fax, mail or online for reimbursement.
If you are rehired in the same plan year and elect to enroll in a TexFlex FSA, make sure to tell your employer if you were previously participating in TexFlex health care FSA or limited-purpose FSA.
