EyeMed will be the new administrator of State of Texas Vision beginning Sept. 1
On March 1, the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) Board of Trustees awarded the third-party administrator contract for State of Texas Vision to EyeMed Vision Care, LLC. The six-year contract term will begin Sept. 1, 2023.
Employees, retirees and their eligible dependents enrolled in State of Texas Vision do not need to re-enroll because of this transition. Their coverage will transfer to EyeMed automatically on Sept.1, unless they choose to drop coverage. (Employees can drop coverage only during Summer Enrollment or with a qualifying life event. Retirees can drop coverage any time.)
Starting June 26, the first day of Summer Enrollment, you can search the EyeMed provider network at https://member.eyemedvisioncare.com/stateoftexasvision. If you don't see your provider in the network, you can nominate him/her.
On Sept. 1, go to https://stateoftexasvision.com to register for a new online account. You will see your account details, as well as information about any discounts and tools you can use to save money when you buy glasses or contacts. Discounts are not funded benefits and may vary or change based on provider or manufacturer.
Beginning June 26, you can also call EyeMed customer service toll-free at (844) 949-2170, TTY: 711 with questions about your benefits beginning Sept.1. Representatives will be able to answer these and any general questions about the transition to EyeMed.
EyeMed at Summer Enrollment fairs and webinars
Representatives of EyeMed will be at Summer Enrollment fairs around the state and take part in webinars throughout Summer Enrollment. Whether attending a fair or webinar, you will have the opportunity to ask EyeMed questions directly.
Over the next few months and during Summer Enrollment, ERS, EyeMed and Superior Vision will share detailed information about the change. You will also have opportunities to meet EyeMed representatives at Summer Enrollment fairs and webinars.
