Enrollment Deadlines for Employees
Within 31 days of your hire date, you can:
- enroll in or change your health plan enrollment;
- enroll in or change dental;
- enroll in or change vision;
- enroll in Optional Term Life Insurance I or II or apply through evidence of insurability (EOI) for levels III or IV;
- add or change Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (Voluntary AD&D) Insurance;
- enroll in Dependent Term Life Insurance (if applicable);
- enroll in Texas Income Protection Plan (TIPP)SM short and long-term disability and
- enroll in our change TexFlexSM flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
If you have a health insurance waiting period, you can do the following within 60 days of your hire date:
- enroll in or change your health plan enrollment;
- enroll or remove eligible family members from your selected health plan;
- waive health coverage;
- select the Health Insurance Opt-out Credit;
- enroll in or change your TexFlex health care or limited-purpose FSA and
- designate or change your primary care provider.
Within 31 days of your qualifying life event (QLE,) you can make a change to your benefits consistent with the QLE, which may include:
- enrolling in or changing your health plan enrollment;
- enrolling in or changing dental;
- enrolling in or changing vision;
- applying through EOI to enroll in or increase Optional Term Life Insurance;
- enrolling in or changing Voluntary AD&D Insurance;
- adding newly eligible dependent in Dependent Term Life Insurance (if applicable) or applying through EOI for Dependent Term Life Insurance;
- applying through EOI or dropping TIPP (short and long-term disability) coverage and
- enrolling in or changing TexFlex FSAs.
At any time during the year, you can:
- change your primary health care provider;
- change your primary care dentist;
- update your personal information;
- enroll in or change your contribution for your Texa$averSM 401(k) or 457 plan and
- update your beneficiaries and their contact information.
Enrollment Deadlines for Retirees without a waiting period
Within 31 days of your qualifying life event (QLE,) you can make a change to your benefits consistent with the QLE, which may include:
- changing your health plan enrollment for you and your eligible family members;
- designating or change your primary care provider (if applicable);
- selecting the Health Insurance Opt-out Credit or waiving health coverage;
- enrolling in dental for you and your eligible family members;
- designating your and your dependent’s primary care dentist;
- continuing or applying through EOI for Dependent Term Life Insurance (if applicable);
- keeping Optional Term Life I or II or applying through EOI for the $10,000 Retiree fixed life insurance plan and
- enrolling in vision.
At any time during the year, you can:
- switch between HealthSelectSM Medicare Advantage and your previous non-Medicare Advantage plan if you’re a Medicare retiree,
- drop coverage,
- change your primary health care provider;
- change your primary care dentist;
- update your personal information and
- update your life insurance beneficiaries and their contact information.
