HealthSelect of Texas for Former Employees

HealthSelect of Texas^® is a network-based point-of-service plan. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas is the plan administrator. You must choose a primary care physician (PCP) and get referrals for specialists.

This plan includes prescription drug coverage through the HealthSelect Prescription Drug Program, administered by Express Scripts.

You will receive two ID cards:

• one for medical and
• one for prescription drug benefits.

Note: Under COBRA, you can continue the coverage you had when you left employment. You can stay enrolled in COBRA for as long as 18 months.

Plan Benefits

Plan benefits vary depending on whether you live in Texas, out of state, or are eligible for Medicare. The benefit level depends on whether the doctors and other providers are in the HealthSelect of Texas^® network and your eligibility for Medicare.

Participation in health insurance includes:

• prescription drug program and
• access to wellness programs.

Eligibility

ERS administers insurance benefits for:  

• employees,
• retirees not eligible for Medicare,
• surviving dependents and
• COBRA.

Note: Each health plan participant must certify tobacco use, even if you do not use tobacco.
