As a member of the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS), you’re one of more than half a million Texans who get health insurance through the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP).
Another fact from the Fiscal Year 2023 "ERS at a Glance" PDF: GBP members like you saved a combined total of $214 million in federal taxes through pre-tax payments for dependent health insurance premiums and to TexFlexSM flexible spending accounts (FSAs).
More facts from Plan Year 2023:
- ERS managed health plan costs to help make sure plan participants continue to get competitive benefits at a reasonable cost. This, along with the state’s continued commitment to fund health benefits, means that out-of-pocket costs held steady and premiums didn’t increase in most health plans.
- Our investments staff achieved a five-year average investment return of 7.71% for the ERS Retirement Trust Fund, allowing Group 4 employees and retirees to get gain-share this year.
- The Texa$averSM 401(k) / 457 Program has more than 271,000 accounts holding almost $4.7 billion in assets. This helps employees have greater financial security in retirement.
- Our Customer Benefits team took 448,000 phone calls and replied to 23,000 emails from members and their families.
