Use your health care FSA to pay for summer essentials

Summer is here. If you’ve got funds in your TexFlex^SM health care FSA, stock up on some of your essentials so you can fully enjoy your time outdoors.

Simply use your TexFlex FSA for items like:

• allergy medicines
• aloe for burn relief
• bandages
• blister treatment
• eye drops
• first aid kits
• hot and cold packs/neck wraps
• itch relief sticks
• medicated throat lozenges
• nasal spray
• neosporin
• pain relievers
• prescription sunglasses
• sinus relief
• steam inhalers
• sunscreen

Two options for using your funds

• If you have a health care FSA, you can use your TexFlex debit card^® to pay for eligible medical, dental and/or vision items. Keep your receipts! You might have to submit them later to prove you spent the funds on eligible items.
• If you have a limited-purpose FSA, you can use your TexFlex debit card^® to pay for eligible dental and/or vision expenses.
• You can pay with cash, check or a personal credit card. Then, submit a claim to pay yourself back. You can do this at TexFlexERS.com or through the PayFlex Mobile^® app. If you sign up for direct deposit, your funds are deposited to your bank account within a few days. You can also download a claim form from TexFlexERS.com and fax or mail it with your supporting documents.

Reminder: Use your TexFlex funds before time runs out

If you have money to spend in your TexFlex flexible spending account, we don’t want you to lose that money. To check your balance, log into TexFlexERS.com or the PayFlex Mobile^® app.

Keep in mind—if you have a health care or limited-purpose FSA, you can carry over up to $570 to Plan Year 2024. There is a minimum carryover amount of $25 if you do not re-enroll in the new plan year. If you have a dependent care FSA, unused funds will not carry over. But you do have until November 15, 2023 to spend Plan Year 2023 funds in your dependent care FSA.
